RASUWA, Sept 20: Six days after being displaced by landslide, victims of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-1 in Salletar of Rasuwa district have finally received relief from the local government.

The rural municipality provided relief to seven families who were displaced by dry landslide a week ago. As the risk of landslide was still hovering over their houses, these families were sheltered in a school of Salletar, informed Utsav Paudel, information officer of Uttargaya.

The victims have been provided with zinc plates and food by the local unit.

The families of Hasta Bahadur Tamang, Dalle Tamang, Ratna Bahadur Tamang, Bir Bahadur Tamang, Kancha Tamang, Bhim Bahadur Tamang and Gopal Tamang were displaced by the landslide.

Upendra Lamsal, chairperson of Uttargaya, handed over the relief materials to the victims. Every year in monsoon, a large number of families are displaced and property worth millions gets destroyed due to landslides and floods in the district. Especially, the people living in Tiru and Gogune of Haku and few settlements of Dandagaun and Thulogaun are prone to these natural disasters.

Many families are obliged to live in landslide-prone areas by risking their lives, as they don't have any other choice. Those displaced from Haku are currently living in Khalde, which too is not safe for them.
