BAITADI, Jan 21: The indigenous and local seeds of vegetables and crops in Baitadi are on verge of extinct.
The local seeds have come to the state of disappearance with the massive use of hybrid seeds.
Though the improved seeds give more yields compared to the local ones, various problems such as pest harms and delay in harvest are occurring in the farming, said Hem Raj Giri, a farmer of Shreekot.
"The seeds which were easily available in the past are very difficult to get now in the village", he added.
Agriculture technicians said that the production of crops is facing several problems as the hybrid seeds are not suitable to local climate. RSS
