KHOTANG, July 16: The representatives of ten local units of Khotang district on Sunday received badges meant for their identity.

On the occasion of the second district assembly organized in Diktel on Sunday, the local units in the district unveiled the badges after efforts by the District Coordination Committee (DCC). Parliament member Bishal Bhattarai, provincial members Ram Kumar Rai and Ushakala Rai unveiled the badge which shows Khotang's map being lifted with two hands with Nepal's national flag on top.

Parliament member Bhattarai handed over the badges to DCC chief Bobi Chamling, Vice Chairperson Gomadevi Khatri and the chiefs and deputy chiefs of all ten local units. The local representatives must compulsorily wear this badge in every function and meeting.

On September 18, 2017, a meeting of DCC had made a decision to provide badges and separate uniform to the chair and vice chair of DCC, representatives of two municipalities and eight rural municipalities. The design of the badge was approved by DCC on February 18.

From now onward, male representatives will be wearing Daura, Suruwal, coat and Dhaka Topi while female representatives will have to wear Chaubandi Cholo, Saree and a coat, according to chief of DCC, Chamling.
