KATHMANDU, Dec 1: The local administration in Kathmandu has urged people not to organize protest programs and hold rallies in the city in view of the possible spread of COVID-19.
As COVID-19 is still fast spreading in the valley, the Kathmandu District Administration Office urged people not to organize protests and rallies and help the government authorities to control the spread of virus in the federal capital city.
Issuing a statement, the local administration also said that those participating in such activities will face action as per the Local Administration Act, 2028 BS, and Infectious Diseases Act, 2020 BS. The request of Kathmandu DAO comes a day after a mass demonstration was held in Kathmandu demanding the restoration of monarchy in Nepal.
“As COVID-19 is still spreading, it is the responsibility of all people to follow health protocols of the Ministry of Health and Population. Participating in rallies and demonstrations increases the risk of COVID-19 in the city,” the administration said in a statement.
