Litterateur and journalist Nirvik dies at 78 today

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: Litterateur and journalist Dilli Ram Nirvik, who contributed a lot to society through journalism, died today. He was 78. Having suffered for long from diabetes, Nirvik died at his residence in Bijulibazaar, said litterateur Radhe Shyam Lekali.

Born in Shantipur, Ilam on January 15, 1939, Nirvik started his career in literature from 1959 from 'Usha', a literary magazine and the mouthpiece of the Sanischare Secondary School in Jhapa.

Likewise, talking about his career as a journalist, he started the profession from 1965.
He also served as member of the Press Council Nepal and member of the Federation of Nepali Journalists. He was also associated with the Nepal Press Institute and other many organizations related to communications.

Nirvik also worked as correspondents of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) and Gorkhapatra Daily from Jhapa.

In the course of his stint as journalist, Nirvik visited various countries like the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, India and China.

Nirvik is survived by his wife Parbati Karmacharya and sons Arpan Sharma and Dr Anjan Sharma.

Meanwhile, his last rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today, Lekali said. RSS
