Light rainfall, thunderstorm likely for next three days: Weather Forecasting Division

KATHMANDU, April 21: The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that most of the parts of the country would witness thunderstorm and light rainfall for the next three days. 

Issuing a press statement today, some parts of the country would witness light rainfall along with thunderstorm.

According to Barun Paudel, senior meteorologist, the weather in Nepal has been impacted by westerly winds, the flow of moisture from the Arabian Sea and Indian weather activities. “Local winds are also more active this year. The heating, evaporating and condensation process has triggered thunder, lightning and rain in the different parts of the country,” he said.

According to DoHM, there was excessive snowfall in the hill districts including Dolpa, Humla, Jumla, Bajura, Darchula, Doti last winter. Kathmandu Valley also witnessed snow this year after an interval of 12 years. Snowfall last took place in the Valley on February 14, 2007.
