KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Mahottari District Court has sentenced a person who killed a girl to life term in prison.
Arun Kumar Shah, a local of Bardibas Municipality-14 of Mahottari district, has been sentenced to life imprisonment on the charge of kidnapping and killing a six-year-old girl two years ago.
According to Madan Jaiswal, registrar of Mahottari District Court, the bench of Judge Ramchandra Khadka has sentenced Arun Shah to life imprisonment on charges of kidnapping, rape and murder.
The court has also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of Rs 100,000 to the victim's family.
Shah had kidnapped Gulabsa Khatun, the 6-year-old daughter of his neighbor Sadim Allam on November 22, 2020. He later raped her and then strangled her to death. He then disposed of the body by putting it in a sack. Her body was found in the same settlement the next day.
Police investigation revealed that Shah was behind the murder of the girl. The court also found Shah guilty of the crime and slapped a life term.
