Legal action will be taken against the decision makers: Minister Ale

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale, has said that legal action would be taken against those involved in granting permission to run businesses including restaurants in the premises of Narayanhiti Palace Museum. 

Receiving the report submitted by the committee formed to probe into the issue of permission granted to run business including a restaurant at the premises of Narayanhiti Palace Museum on Monday, Minister Ale shared that action would be taken against the individual or organization involved in irregularities in course of giving permission to run the business. 

"The committee has submitted its report, shedding light on the irregularities in the matter. Action will be taken against the individual or organization responsible for it." 

The Ministry had earlier formed a five-member probe committee under coordination of Joint-Secretary of the Ministry, Hom Prasad Luintel, in order to carry out an investigation on the permission given to BATAS Group to run business including a restaurant at the premises of Narayanhiti Palace Museum. 

The Committee in the report mentioned that there was no clear demarcation of area and place to be used in the course of running canteen/cafeteria and encouraged to carry out construction activities encroaching additional areas. 

Executive Director of the Development Committee did not take any action even after constructing new structures by B Management Pvt Ltd against agreement, and additional new structures were constructed on 14 ropanis of land without taking permission of the Ministry and Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Memorial Management and Operation Development Board, reads the report. 

Minister Ale had directed the Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Memorial Management and Operation Development Board to stop the construction activities of the restaurant at Narayanhiti premises.
