JHAPA, April 27: The Chief District Officer (CDO) of Jhapa has said that those who showed black flags to CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli will be punished.
CDO Shivram Pokharel said that those who carry out chaotic activities and attack the police will be brought under the legal ambit and action will be taken against them.
"Three people have been detained by the police. We are investigating. If found guilty, legal action will be taken against them," he said. According to him, there was a planned attack on the police after informing them that the demonstration would be peaceful. "It is not acceptable to attack the police because we are demonstrating peacefully, and two policemen are still being treated," he said.
On Wednesday, when KP Oli came to his home district Jhapa, protestors protested saying that the name of Koshi province should be changed. There was a clash between protesters and the police after some of the protestors chanted slogans against Oli and pelted stones at his car.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Jhapa, two police officers who were injured in the clash are undergoing treatment. The DPO said that three people who attacked the police while showing black flagS to Oli were detained by the police last night.
