MAHOTTARI, Feb 27: General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) CP Mainali has been injured in a road accident at Ratopul of Bardibas-3 on Thursday.
The incident took place when a car (Ba 4 Cha 2120) carrying five persons including leader Mainali collided head-on with a pick-up van (Na 4 Cha 7680) along the BP Highway at 12:02 pm today.

The vehicle was en route to Kathmandu from Bardibas when it met with the accident.
Mainali has head and leg injuries. According to senior police constable Choliram Chaudhary at Area Police Office Bardiwas, Mainali and other 4 injured persons including one passenger of the van have been undergoing treatment at Bardibas-based Janasewa Hospital.
Mainali is also the former deputy prime minister. His condition is said to be critical. Now, the district authorities are airlifting Mainali to Kathmandu for further treatment.
Chaudhary also informed that the driver of the van has been taken under control.
