Lawyers urged to participate in 'clean judiciary campaign'

KATHMANDU, April 10: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang on Tuesday urged lawyers to participate in a 'clean judiciary campaign' saying that such a campaign would also help empower the people.

 Addressing a function organized by the Patan High Court Bar Association to felicitate Tamang on his appointment as law minister, Tamang urged the lawyers to help make the judiciary clean saying this would ultimately empower the lawyers and service seekers.

He said the judges should not engage in corruption and that the Judicial Council will be made effective to curb corruption in the judiciary. 

He said it is easier to take action against corrupt politicians and ministers but the same is difficult in case of judges.

Chief judge of Patan High Court Prakash Dhungana speaking on the occasion expressed hope that the judiciary will change for better under Minister Tamang.  

Sher Bahadur KC, the president of Nepal Bar Association also called the JC to work actively for maintaining judicial discipline. 

Major Thapa, the president of Patan High Court Bar Association urged all lawyers to support the minster for bringing positive changes to the judiciary.
