Lawyers protest against assault on Senior Advocate Tripathi  by wearing black bands (with photos)

Legal practitioners have assessed the assault on Tripathi, who actively initiated legal proceedings against Lamichhane, as a threat to the independence of the judiciary and the safety of legal practitioners.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Legal practitioners have protested by tying black bands to their arms against the assailants of Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi.


The Supreme Court Bar Association condemned the assault on Tripathi and demanded that the government pay attention to the safety of lawyers. Lawyers have peacefully expressed their dissatisfaction by wearing black bands.

On January 15, Senior Advocate Tripathi was assaulted outside the Kathmandu District Court. Tripathi had been engaging in debates on various cases from Kaski to Kathmandu against Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.


Legal practitioners have assessed the assault on Tripathi, who actively initiated legal proceedings against Lamichhane, as a threat to the independence of the judiciary and the safety of legal practitioners.


Stating that it is necessary to pay serious attention to this incident, legal experts have demanded that the incident be investigated impartially and the culprits be punished.
