Lawyers accused by suspended CJ Rana appear before House panel

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The lawyers accused of wrongdoings by the suspended Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra SJB Rana appeared before the parliamentary Impeachment Recommendation Committee and recorded their statements on Thursday.

The lawyers summoned by the Impeachment Recommendation Committee attended the meeting called by the committee to record their statements. Earlier, when he was grilled by the committee, suspended CJ Rana made various accusations against the former chief justices, justices and Nepal Bar association office-bearers.

In the meeting with the committee, former presidents of Nepal Bar Association Chandeshwar Shrestha, Shambhu Thapa, senior advocates Harihar Dahal, Raman Shrestha, Krishna Prasad Bhandari, Anjita Khanal, Omprakash Aryal, Gopal Prakash Aryal and Gopal Krishna Ghimire were present. However, the former chief justices and justices named by Rana refused to appear before the committee.
