KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Lawmaker of the House of Representatives, Bhim Rawal has said that he will not take the Dashain allowances deposited in his bank account.
Rawal, who represents the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), took to Twitter on Sunday to state that it is not appropriate to receive additional benefits from the state treasury during the time of a national crisis created by the pandemic of COVID-19.
He also demanded to make necessary arrangements not to distribute Dashain allowances this year.
“I’m okay if the deposited amount is deducted from my account,” he wrote.
Rawal’s announcement came amid widespread criticism after the lawmakers received Dashain allowances despite the recession in the national economy due to the coronavirus.
