BUTWAL, August 29: Eleven houses have been damaged as a landslide hit a settlement in Ghecha of Chure at around 6AM today.
No casualties were reported as the landslide struck in the morning. According to Madan Kunwar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Area Police Office, Butwal, the landslide damaged household items and residents of the risky areas have been shifted to safer places. “Locals have been alerted and we are preparing for the rescue,” he said.
The landslide also damaged the road that linked Golpark and Laxminagar. Last year, a small landslide struck above the Jyotinagar settlement. Similarly, a huge landslide had hit the same place on September 5, 1998. Five dozen houses were damaged back then.
