KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Nepal national cricket team spinner Sandeep Lamichhane’s Melbourne Stars has suffered an embarrassing 10-wicket loss to Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League on Friday.
Lamichhane, who went straight to Australia after winning the ODI and T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), could not have a happy beginning in the league. Melbourne presented a target of 157 runs.
Brisbane completed the target inside 10 overs with 10 wickets in hand. Brisbane openers Mexes Brant and Ben Cutting had a partnership of 158 runs in the win. Brant and Cutting both facing 30 balls each, scored unbeaten 81 and 71 runs respectively.
Lamichhane, bowling two overs, conceded 28 runs. Earlier, losing the toss and having made to bat first, Melbourne scored 156 runs in the allotted 20 overs losing eight wickets.
