KATHMANDU, March 10: The labor desk set up by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security at the Tribhuvan International Airport has been removed.


The labor desk set up targeting workers going for foreign employment at the airport has been removed from Wednesday. Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha directed to remove the labor desk after receiving complaints that the labor desk has added difficulty to the workers going for foreign employment. Officials, including Minister Shrestha, rushed to the airport to remove the labor desk.

Minister Shrestha said that the desk had to be removed as the process was cumbersome when the workers went through the labor desk. He said that now the workers can easily enter the airport.


The ministry has stated that there is no need for a labor desk as the Foreign Employment Information Management System is already put in place. Workers entering the airport will now be able to enter through all three entrances.
