KATHMANDU, Jan 30: Property worth around Rs 32.2 million was reduced to ashes in a huge fire that broke out at local Nayabasti of Kuleshwor last night.

The fire destroyed 27 shops that include food stores, canteen, tailoring outlets, meat shops and vegetable stores, according to Kalimati-based Metropolitan Police Circle.

It engulfed 12 shutters rented by a local Brahma Maharjan. Some other shops in the area have been partially damaged by the fire which broke out from a cosmetic shop due to short-circuit and later spread to other shops, too, according to Circle's Deputy Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari.

The fire was put out at around 10:30 pm, after two hours since it broke out, with the help of security forces, fire fighters and locals. RSS
