KATHMANDU, June 16: Chairman of the ruling coalition partner CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has accused the government led by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli of agreeing to the United States’ Strategic Partnership Program (SPP).

Chairman Dahal said this while paying homage to Rit Bahadur Khadka (Comrade Pratap) on the latter’s 21st Memorial held at the party's central office in Paris Danda on Thursday.

He said that the KP Oli-led government had signed the SPP agreement in 2019 and every Nepali needs to understand it. Chairman Dahal said that a false and hypocritical propaganda of nationalism was being carried out now.

He claimed that the SPP agreement was a lie and that Nepal would not sign any military agreement like the SPP with the United States. Stating that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had promised not to sign the military agreement, Dahal urged the people not to be misled.

Stating that the coalition government was not in favor of a military agreement like the SPP, Dahal said that the coalition was committed to Nepal's national independence, development and prosperity. He said that the journey of prosperity and development of Nepal would be done through consensus and cooperation.
