BIRATNAGAR, August 21: Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Uddhav Thapa, is seeking a vote of confidence today itself.
A meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been scheduled for 3 PM for this purpose, according to Province Assembly Secretary Gopal Prasad Prajuli.
Israial Mansuri will preside over the Assembly meeting. Deputy Speaker Sirjana Danuwar had assigned the responsibility of conducting the meeting to Mansuri, citing her need to travel out of the Province due to a sudden health issue.
Madhesh CM Yadav wins vote of confidence
In a notice, she stated that she would not be able to chair the Provincial Assembly meeting on Monday and the immediate next meeting.
Four Provincial Assembly members were designated to run the Assembly meeting in the absence of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker. Among them, the senior-most Provincial Assembly member, Malati Kumari Limbu, on August 18, and the next senior-most, Ambar Bahadur Bista, notified that they would be absent from the August 21 meeting. Consequently, the duty of conducting the meeting has been assigned to Mansuri.
Meanwhile, CPN-UML's Taradevi Dhakal, Khadga Bahadur Basnet, Gyanendra Subedi, Rohit Bahadur Karki, and Ram Prasad Mahato, along with Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)'s Gopal Bahadur Bishwakarma, have also informed the Province Assembly Secretariat that they will be on leave today and will not be present at the Assembly meeting.
Similarly, in the meeting of the Assembly Business Advisory Committee this morning, the parties agreed to hold the Assembly meeting at 12:15 PM.
The Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML, the CPN (Maoist Center), and the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal were present at the Committee meeting that convened at 8 AM today.
