Koirala unanimously elected president of Nepal Bankers' Association

The current president, Sunil KC, is set to be succeeded by Koirala, who previously served as the NBA’s vice-president.

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Santosh Koirala, the CEO of Machhapuchchhre Bank, has been unanimously elected as the president of the Nepal Bankers' Association (NBA), the umbrella organization of commercial banks in the country.


Koirala's unanimous election followed Prabhu Bank CEO Ashok Sherchan stepping down from his candidacy. Although both Koirala and Sherchan had initially filed nominations for the position, Sherchan's withdrawal paved the way for Koirala's confirmation.

Global IME Bank CEO Surendra Raj Regmi has been elected unopposed as the vice-chairman. The current president, Sunil KC, is set to be succeeded by Koirala, who previously served as the NBA’s vice-president.


Meanwhile, the terms of Nepal SBI Bank CEO Dipak Kumar De and Everest Bank CEO Sudesh Khaling, both members of the NBA, are coming to an end. The NBA’s annual general meeting elects a new working committee, including the president, vice-president, and three members.


The new NBA working committee will include Everest Bank CEO Sudesh Khaling, Nepal Bank CEO Tilak Raj Pandey, and Kumari Bank CEO Ramchandra Khanal.
