KOICA-supported Outreach Center and Agriculture Collection Center inaugurated in Tanahu

KATHMANDU, March 26: The Government of the Republic of Korea has inaugurated the Outreach Center (ORC) and Agriculture Collection Center (ACC) at Puttar in Tanahun district, Nepal. 


Led by Mooheon Kong, Country Director of KOICA, and in the presence of key dignitaries including Sungho Kang, Deputy Chief of Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal, and Dr Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, Executive Director of Dhulikhel Hospital, the project marks a significant step towards integrated health and income growth in rural Nepal.

According to the Embassy, the project supported by a generous grant of USD 4.7 million is implemented through KOICA Nepal focusing on enhancing health services and income opportunities in remote areas. Outreach centers established in various districts, including Sindhupalchowk and Kavre, provide vital healthcare services and promote agricultural development, thereby improving living standards and economic resilience in these communities.


During the inauguration, Country Director Kong expressed optimism about the project's positive impact, while Deputy Chief of Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal Kang highlighted the enduring partnership between Korea and Nepal. Dr Shrestha commended the initiative, envisioning the ORC as a model center for Gandaki Province, and Thapa, Chairperson of Ghiring Rural Municipality, lauded the efforts to uplift the lives of those in remote areas.


According to the Embassy, this endeavor represents a milestone as both nations celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations. This partnership aims to foster sustainable development and prosperity for Nepal's rural population.
