KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Ward Number 19, Shashi Lal Shrestha passed away due to a stroke at Norvic International Hospital in the capital on Thursday. He was 65.
His body was taken to the ward office from the hospital at 8AM today so that people could offer him the last tributes. Ward Member Chandra Man Dangol informed Republica that the body will be taken to Pashupati Aryaghat for cremation after 3PM.
Born on December 28, 1956, Shrestha was diagnosed with bowel cancer some two months ago. He died of a stroke while undergoing treatment.
Shrestha was elected as a ward member during the Panchayat period. Later at the local level election held in 2017, Shrestha got victory as the ward chairperson from the Nepali Congress. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
