KATHMANDU, Aug 9: In a bid to promote technology-friendly work culture in government offices, Kathmandu Metropolitan Office (KMC) has introduced electronic billing system in Basantapur Durbar Square for the first time.

Chief of KMC Rudra Singh Tamang launched the electronic ticketing system in the presence of government officials and locals at Basantapur Durbar Square on Sunday. While talking to Republica, Tamang attributed the introduction of electronic system to promote technology-based working system in Kathmandu.

"Technology is the need of the hour and development is incomplete without the aid of technology. I believe, the electronic billing system will lead to more accuracy in transactions and boost performance," said Tamang.

According to Tamang, the data and information fed into the devices will be directly transferred to the main server.

"The use of this device will bolster transparency and enforce discipline among concerned government officials as all transaction will be monitored round the clock," said Tamang.

Currently, there are a total of six ticketing stalls in operation in Basantapur Durbar Square Area.

"It's only a beginning. Gradually, such devices will be introduced in other public areas as well," said Tamang.
