KATHMANDU, May 4: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has formed a seven-member committee to submit a proposal to build a well-equipped hospital with isolation facility to contain further spread of COVID-19 in Kathmandu district.
The committee chaired by KMC Ward Number 3 Chairperson Deepak KC include Ward Number 6 Chairperson Dipendra Lama, Ward Number 7 Chairperson Sudda Kumar Dangol, Ward Number 22 Chairperson Chinikaji Maharjan, Ward Number 30 Chairperson Dal Bahadur Karki and Chairperson of Ward Number 31 Narayan Bhandari.
The 61st executive committee meeting of the KMC held last Monday had discussed in detail on the ways to contain the spread of COVID-19. The meeting concluded that establishment of well-equipped COVID-19 treatment facilities was one of the important ways to stem the second wave of COVID-19.
The seven-member committee will deliberate on the modality to operate isolation facilities. This will also develop the modality to treat people suspected of COVID-19 infection. The committee has also been entrusted with the responsibility to submit proposals to the KMC to build additional COVID-19 treatment facilities.
The meeting also decided to rope in health experts Dr Ganesh Gurung, Dr Arjun Karki, Dr Anup Subedi and Dr Sharad Onta to join the KMC’s fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
