KMC generates over Rs 3.22 billion in the first four months of current FY

KATHMANDU, Nov 19: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has reported a revenue collection of over 3.22 billion by the end of Kartik (November 16) in the ongoing Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26. In comparison, the previous year saw a collection of over Rs 3.16 billion during the same timeframe. 



Deepak Adhikari, the head of KMC's Revenue Department, emphasized that last year's target was set at Rs 12 billion while the current FY has a target of over Rs 15 billion.

So far this year, Rs 1.96 billion has been collected internally. In the corresponding period of the last FY, internal revenue collection was Rs 1.99 billion. Adhikari noted that the drop in internal revenue this fiscal year is attributed to a decline in property tax. 


He said that in the first quarter of the previous FY, property tax collection was Rs 503 million, whereas in the same quarter of the current fiscal year, it has decreased to Rs 427 million. The official remarked, "Last year, it was determined that property tax would be collected at the rate established by the relevant Land Revenue Office.
