the bony fingers, the clicking keys

swinging door, stale air, stiff clothes

the rattling teacups, the sailing trays

the still morning of the kitchen

the lights blinking blearily

the spoon falling with a ringing clatter

drapes vibrate with the trembling windows

the tomatoes roll down and splatter

 

the dizzy feeling, body sluggish

disoriented and dull consciousness

wobbly, swimming head, thoughts murky

the cold floor, the freezing water

the sunlight streaming from the windows

 

dirty stripe of brown on the window

outisde cobbles shrouded with murk

the musty smell of sodden hay

warm sun on the face, lazy feeling

the ceiling with dust gone grey

muscles ready, mind numbly reeling

preparing for yet another rotten day
