Kirtipur makes stunning comeback to register fourth consecutive win

KATHMANDU, March 3: Kirtipur Basketball Team registered their fourth consecutive win in the ongoing first Kwiks Men’s Basketball League as they made an enthralling comeback in the match to defeat St Xavier’s College 85-83 on Friday.

KATHMANDU, March 3: Kirtipur Basketball Team registered their fourth consecutive win in the ongoing first Kwiks Men’s Basketball League as they made an enthralling comeback in the match to defeat St Xavier’s College 85-83 on Friday.


Xavier dominated Kirtipur at its home court in the first three quarters of the match. It was pushed to extra time after Kirtipur were stalemate at the end of the full-time. In a sensational fight back in the fourth quarter, Kirtipur defeated the host team by two points to take its winning streak to four matches in a row.

Kirtipur, which was behind with 22-12 points in the first quarter, was dominated by home team in second and third too with scores of 18-17 each. However, Kirtipur fought back in the fourth set to minimize the gap by registering the score of 28-16 as the match was drawn and pushed to extra time. 


Both teams were at a stalemate on 74-74 at the end of fourth quarter. Kirtipur, then, completed a stunning comeback to win the game. Suraj Khadki of Xavier’s was the high scorer with 16 points. It was fourth straight-loss of Xavier’s.


With the win, Kirtipur is in second place with 12 points. Likewise, unbeaten Tribhuvan Army Club stands at the top with 15 points from five matches. 


On Saturday, Tribhuvan Army will play Xavier’s and Golden Gate College will face Bishal Milan Kendra.
