Vishnu Reddy, country manager for Devyani International, told Republica that the company is doing final preparations and Nepalis can now enjoy the taste of global fast food chains at Thapathali.
“We have received overwhelming response from customers over the period of two years and this is the reason why we are expanding our services,” Reddy said.
According to the country manager, the new outlet of Pizza Hut will for the first time start home delivery service in the valley. “Since we are starting home delivery service of pizzas, we will have seating capacity for only 24 people at Pizza Hut while KFC can serve 110 persons at a time," said Reddy.
KFC and Pizza Hut, the subsidiaries of Yum! Brands Inc -- the world´s largest fast food chain company, were introduced in Nepal at Durbar Marg two years ago with an investment of around Rs 110 million and seating capacity for 140 people each.
Reddy said the company will introduce oven chicken and new varieties of fast food products at its new outlet. Devyani International currently sells only fried chicken from its outlets at Durbar Marg. KFC imports chickens from Brazil while the soft buns are freshly made in Nepal. Apart from the original taste of KFC, the outlet offers spicier versions that suit Nepali taste as well.
Devyani International plans to come up with three to four new KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in Pokhara and Kathmandu in 2012.
Binod Tuladhar, proprietor and executive director of Bluestar Complex, told Republica that opening of global food chains at Bluestar Complex will help in making shopping even more exciting at the Bluebird Complex. “The closing down of the food court was deterring people from visiting the complex. But now customers can satisfy their taste buds with international food chains,” Tuladhar said, adding that Himalayan Java is also expected to begin its service at Bluebird Complex by the third week of October.
The Yellow Chilli -- a restaurant promoted by celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor -- is, however, starting operation during the Tihar festival.
