Injured chairperson has been admitted to Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar
DHARAN, July 17: The chairperson of Kerabari Rural Municipality in Morang district was attacked with a knife inside his office on Friday morning.
According to police, Rural Municipality Chair Rohit Bahadur Karki has sustained injuries on his head. "The injured chairperson has been admitted to the Biratnagar-based Nobel Hospital," said Sub-inspector Deepak Baral.
Police have already arrested Bhaban Thakuri, a resident of Kerabari-10, who attacked Karki inside his office.
According to police, Thakuri is a contractor of toll tax.
It has been learnt that Thakuri's contract expired on Wednesday – the last day of Fiscal Year 2019/2020. "Thakuri attacked the chairperson as the local unit started to collect the tax on its own," according to Baral.
