Keeping your home clean

Organizing your home is easy. It’s the keeping it neat, tidy, and clean afterward that’s difficult. You have to learn how to keep a clean house, day in and day out, so you don’t wind up spending your entire weekend cleaning it. The secret is doing a little bit every day to keep messes from piling up.
Clean homes don’t just miraculously clean themselves—neat people have a protocol in place to keep things maintained and orderly.

To ensure that dirt does not get out of control, it’s important to schedule cleaning tasks on a daily or weekly basis. A cleaning routine can be life changing – it makes a huge difference in your home. People with neat homes tend to have cleaning routines so dirt and laundry don’t pile up. Set a designated day to vacuum or do laundry so those big tasks don’t get skipped.

But there are little things you can do on a daily basis to keep your house clean too. Start by making your bed immediately after you wake up. As the most visible surface in the bedroom, an unmade bed makes the whole room look messy. If tucking in sheets isn’t your thing, switch to a duvet with a removable cover that you can wash each week. Then, all you have to do is pull it up and, voila, your bed’s tidy.

It also pays off if you get into the habit of cleaning up after each meal or snack. Dirty countertops make your kitchen look grim and awful. A quick wipe down on your counters with a homemade all-purpose cleaner and rinsing the dishes before piling them on the sink to wash later can keep your space looking clean. Before you head to bed, give the kitchen a quick glance and put away any clutter. The same goes for your dining table. Don’t let it turn into a catch-all.

And it’s vital to ensure that everything you need and use has its designated place and everybody in the house knows that. It makes it easier to keep your home neat and tidy when people always return things to their place whenever they use them or after cleaning. This way, not only will things always be in the right places and you will find them when you need them, the house will look orderly and clutter-free.
