keeping his family afloat

keeping his family afloat

KATHMANDU: Ram Kumar Shrestha, 38, is a rickshaw rider at the Basantapur-New Road area. Although, tourists visiting Nepal have gotten smarter over the years and prefer walking that riding on rickshaws, Shrestha has stood by his profession.

He lives with his six-member family—consisting of three children, his wife and his father—at Bangemuda.

For him, the income from this rickshaw business is the only economic factor keeping his family afloat.

He has been in this business for around 12 to 13 years now and because he is uneducated, he can’t gravitate to other forms of work. Thus, he understands the value of education.
