Kathmandu Valley witnesses cold, snowfalls in Chandragiri

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Kathmandu Valley has witnessed dip in minimum temperature since Monday morning.

The valley recorded eight degree Celsius temperature as its lowest point today morning, according to Ganga Nagarkoti, an expert at the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

Nagarkoti told Republica Online that Chandragiri of Kathmandu and Daman of Makawanpur have witnessed light snowfalls since early morning today.

Most of the places in the Kathmandu valley have witnessed light raining today morning. She informed that the weather in Kathmandu is expected to be improved from today evening.

The valley has been witnessing partial cloudy conditions for the past few days.  

According to Nagarkoti, light snowfall is expected to continue in the high mountainous regions tonight.

"Light rain has been expected at one or two places of the eastern, mid and hilly region, with partial to general cloudy conditions," she said.

There will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country today, according to the division.

"Light rain likely to occur at a few places in the country. Chances of light to moderate snowfall at some places of the high mountainous region," the division said in its update.

The division said that there will be generally cloudy in the eastern and central regions and partly cloudy in the western region tonight.

"Light rain likely to occur at one or two places of the eastern and central regions. Chances of light to moderate snowfall at a few places of the high mountainous region," the division said in its weather forecast.
