Kathmandu Valley’s COVID-19 cases doubled in three weeks

As of Sunday, 82,348 people diagnosed with COVID-19; 362 succumbed to the virus 

KATHMANDU, Nov 2: The COVID-19 caseload of Kathmandu Valley has doubled just in three weeks.

On Oct 10, the Valley’s COVID-19 case tally was 40,170 which has now jumped to 82,348 in just three weeks.

According to a latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population, (MoHP), 1,357 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Sunday.

Of the 2,824 new cases detected across the country on Sunday, 1,357 were recorded in the Valley alone.

Similarly, the country’s COVID-19 caseload has doubled in just four weeks. Nepal’s COVID-19 case tally was 86,823 on Oct 4 which has reached 173,567 in just four weeks, 

The Valley’s caseload accounts for 47.45 percent of the country's total cases.

As of Sunday, there are 19,571 active cases in the Valley. The Valley’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 70.47 percent versus the nationwide recovery rate of 77.7 percent.

Health experts have warned of health emergencies in the Valley. The COVID-19 designated hospitals across the country are overwhelmed with a large flow of COVID-19 patients. The government has failed to effectively respond to the crisis.
