POKHARA, September 1: A parallel committee formed by the Madhav Kumar Nepal led-faction in Kaski during his tenure in the CPN-UML has decided to merge into his newly-registered CPN (Unified Socialist) party. A joint meeting between the two committees on Tuesday decided to convert themselves into Nepal’s CPN (Unified Socialist) party, according to the district’s coordinator Dhanraj Acharya.

The district committee under the coordination of Acharya has 185 members while the Pokhara Metropolis Committee under the coordination of Muktinath Poudel has 141 members.

Earlier, it was speculated that the two committees would remain in the CPN-UML after senior leaders Bhim Rawal, Yuvraj Gyawali, Asta Laxmi Shakya, Ghanshyam Bhusal, Surendra Pandey, Yogesh Bhattarai among other influential leaders did not join the CPN (Unified Socialist) party.

However, the two parallel committees announced plans to merge into the CPN (Unified Socialist) party.

The two committees have also announced plans to form a ward committee in every municipality of Kaski district by September 6. According to Acharya, the District Parallel committee has been renamed as Kaski District Committee and Pokhara Parallel Committee into Pokhara Metropolis Committee under the CPN (Unified Socialist) party. He said the two parties were formed to fight against the KP Oli attitude.
