SURKHET, Oct 9: A meeting of Karnali Provincial Assembly that resumed on Tuesday following a hiatus of two months has been hit again.

Nepali Congress lawmakers disrupted the meeting saying that the government could not assign business and make a red book available to the parliament even four months after the budget was unveiled.

No sooner had Rajbahadur Shahi, speaker of the provincial assembly, announced to commence the meeting, than Lawmaker Dinbandhu Shrestha demanded time to speak.

Coming down heavily on the government, Shrestha said, “The government is trying to take the parliament hostage by not assigning any businesses  to the parliament even four months after the budget was unveiled.”

Shrestha further said that the government has not yet provided a red book to the parliament while the lawmakers are limited only to their speeches.

“We will not allow the parliament to run until the chief minister addresses these questions on behalf of the government,” said Shrestha.

The speaker had postponed the meeting briefly following its disruption by opposition leaders.
