KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The government has appointed Krishna Bahadur Karki as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE).

A cabinet meeting held on Monday made a decision to this effect, according to cabinet sources.

A permanent resident of Palpa, Karki is currently serving as the Head of Environment, Compensation Distribution, Resettlement and Rehabilitation Unit under Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project.

The post of Nepse CEO had fallen vacant after then CEO Chandra Singh Saud resigned from his position in August amid allegations of ‘moral hazard’ for illegally purchasing shares of Sarbottam Cement.

Earlier, a selection committee formed by the government had shortlisted the names of three candidates from among 11 candidates. They included Karki, Ramesh Bhandari and Keshab Shrestha.
