KATHMANDU, March 8: The Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has welcomed the CK Raut-led Alliance for Independent Madhesh (AIM)'s move to renounce the secessionist movement, on Friday.
"The RPP—which has been firmly advocating for the sake of country's territorial integrity for long—cautiously welcomes the AIM's announcement to renounce its secessionist movement," the Publicity Department Chief of the party, Mohan Shrestha, said in a statement.
The Kamal Thapa-led party, in the statement, has believed that a decision of a single group to renounce such activities doesn't make sense as long as separatist mentality and tendencies are not abandoned.
Earlier today, the government and CK Raut-led AIM sealed an 11-point deal thereby ending the latter’s secessionist movement.
The agreement was signed by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and AIM’s CK Raut at City Hall in the capital. The agreement states that the state would compensate the cadres of Raut’s party and address the demands of the Madesh among others.
