KATHMANDU, Dec 25: President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari has expressed grief in Kalikot's fire that gutted 87 houses and injured seven.

A massive fire broke out on Sunday night in Khadka village of Palata rural municipalities from the house of Nabin Neupane. Following the fire devastation, 540 villagers have been displaced amid dipping temperatures. The local administration estimated that the fire has gutted property worth Rs. 30 million. There were altogether 179 households in Khadka village.

Bhandari said that she was saddened by the damage caused by the fire that has displaced hundreds and injured dozens including food grains and cattle. "I wish that concerned bodies take quicker initiatives to provide necessary relief."
