KALIKOT, Jan 20: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kalikot, has been closed for a week after staffers including the Chief District Officer (CDO) contracted COVID-19.
CDO Ram Hari Sharma, Assistant CDO Devendra Prasad Shrestha and other employees have been infected with COVID-19, forcing the DAO to suspend all services it provides for a week. CDO Sharma said that due to non-observance of health precautions, COVID-19 infection was transmitted to him and other staff and the service was suspended for a week to prevent the spread of infection among the service recipients.
He said COVID-19 was confirmed during tests after they experienced throat problems. Public Health Officer at the Health Services Office, Kalikot, Gaurakumari Gharti Magar said that 89 people had been infected in Kalikot in the third wave of COVID-19 till Wednesday. Two of the infected are in institutional isolation while the rest are in self-isolation at their homes.
