BARA, April 21: Rajaesh Raya, the mayor of Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city in Bara district, was arrested on Tuesday on the charge of distributing rotten lentils and substandard food items to the people hard-hit by the lockdown.
District Police Office Bara said the mayor was arrested after the locals complained about the spoiled lentils and substandard food items as relief materials to the people.

"We are interrogating him now," Bara DPO chief SP Krishna Pangeni said. Earlier, police had arrested some of the ward chairpersons of the sub-metropolitan city on the charge of distributing rotten rice as relief items.
Earlier, the local administration had seized a food store owned by mayor Raya based in Kalaiya metropolis-7 after repeated complaints of the local residents.
