Kailali advances to Attariya Cup semifinals

ATTARIYA, May 7:The semifinal lineup of the ongoing Ruslan Attariya Women’s T20 Cricket Tournament is completed after Kailali District Cricket Academy became latest team to book its place in the last four. Kailali overcame Bara Cricket Academy by eight wickets to enter semifinal as group B winner. 

In the first semifinal clash to be held on Monday, Kaillai will face group A winner Armed Police Force (APF) while in the second last four clash group B winner Kathmandu’s Rising Cricket Women will take on group A runner-up Milan Cricket Academy, Jhapa. 

Meanwhile, Bara’s batting woes continued in the last league round match played against Kailali at APF cricket ground, Attariya. Bara which was limited to 73 runs in its first league match against Rising on Sunday was once again limited to low score. Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Bara made just 67 runs losing nine wickets in 20 over. 

Saraswati Pun stroked highest 19 runs facing off the 39 balls for Bara while skipper Mamata Chaulagain contributed 10 runs and none other batswomen touched double digit for the losing side.

Earlier, openers couldn’t give positive start to the inning as Geeta Gosai and Pachana Aryal were sent to pavilion making for just three and one runs respectively. Kailali’s Suman Bista was pick of the bowling as she claimed two wickets giving away 10 runs. Similarly, Kabita Kunwar, Anjali Chand and Laxmi Saud took one each wicket for winning side. 

In the reply, Kailali met the target in 12 over losing out two wickets. Opener Manju Bokati stroked highest 33 runs smashing four boundaries facing off the 38 balls. Player-of-the-match Bokati also built up a 46-run partnership with Kabita Kunwar for second wicket which was important to guide her team to the win.

Kabita contributed 22 runs hitting three boundaries off the 26 balls. Similarly Nitu Bhandari contributed nine runs. Bara’s Nitu Thapa and Samana Pun claimed one wicket each.
