Alarmingly, Kathmandu valley consumes between 4,700,000 to 4,800,000 plastic bags daily.  On average, 100 million pla stic bags are consumed in a month in the Kathmandu valley alone. Nepal is the 24th most vulnerable country in the world to the impacts of climate change, according to Global Climate Rate Index 2017.  

Nepal govt asks China for help to curb gold smuggling

The Nepal government has turned to northern neighbor for help to control gold smuggling after the yellow precious metal was found being smuggled to India from China via the Nepal route. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Tuesday met with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong and asked her for help to control gold smuggling saying that the yellow precious metal is being smuggled to India from China using the Nepal route. 

Monitoring team destroys expired food along the Prithvi Highway

Large quantity of expired foods such as noodles, biscuits, juice and junk foods were seized and destroyed during a surprise market monitoring at the Prithvi Highway, according to Assistant Chief District Officer Dholak Raj Dhakal. The District Monitoring Committee, Dhading has launched a market monitoring since yesterday where.

The cases of domestic violence against men have also gone up in Lalitpur district of late. According to Metropolitan Police Range Office, Lalitpur, as many as 143 cases of domestic violence have been registered in the period of 10 months.

FIFA files criminal complaint against online ticket seller Viagogo

Soccer’s ruling body FIFA has filed a criminal complaint against online ticket reseller Viagogo, saying it wanted to protect fans and prevent unauthorized ticket resales at the World Cup in Russia starting next week. Zurich-based FIFA said on Tuesday it had filed a complaint, based on the law on unfair competition, with the public prosecutor’s office in Geneva after receiving complaints about the Swiss company’s practices.
