DAO-Mahottari submits names of 17 construction companies to Home Minister

Mahottari’s District Administration Office (DAO) has forwarded names of 17 construction companies that have repeatedly failed to complete timely infrastructure development to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The DAO decided doing so following directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs that sought names of each contracting company which was failed to abide by agreed schedules

Flood survivors in Mahottari offered relief

The District Administration Office, Mahottari provided Rs. 25,000 to 2,504 households affected by the flood last year. Nine people were killed and thousands were rendered homeless by the flood. A total of Rs. 62.6 million was spent in relief distribution.   

National Poet returns home after treatment

National poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire returned home after undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital, New Delhi. Ghimire was flown to New Delhi on May 23 after Dhapasi based Grande International Hospital referred him to Medanta. The national poet had suffered from internal bleeding and he has been undergoing regular medication for the past four months following complications in his heart, kidney and lungs.  

More than 800 street children rescued from Kathmandu valley   

More than 800 street children have been rescued since Central Child Welfare Board initiated a program in 2016 to rehabilitate and rescue them from Kathmandu valley. So far, 734 boys and 83 girls have been rescued. Of those rescued, majority; 403 and 290 fall under of 11-14 and 15-18 age group respectively. While the campaign covers 61 districts, data of only 10 districts are available. 

US vetoes UN resolution denouncing violence against Palestinians

The United States has vetoed a Kuwaiti-drafted UN Security Council resolution that condemned Israel's use of force against Palestinian civilians. In turn, a second, US-drafted resolution blamed Hamas for the violence and upheld Israel's right to defend itself, which failed to attract any other country's support when it was put to vote at the council. The US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said the two votes showed it was willing to blame Israel and unwilling to blame Hamas, the Islamist group that dominates Gaza.

Lingard to start for England in Nigeria friendly

Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard will start for England in Saturday’s friendly against Nigeria at Wembley Stadium. Lingard, who usually operates in an attacking midfield role, scored 13 goals for United last season in all competitions - his most productive campaign yet at Old Trafford. Phil Jones would miss the Nigeria match after he was allowed to leave the training camp as his partner is due to give birth.
