NSU protests against govt decision to revoke pesticide tests for fruits, veggies

Cadres of Nepal Student Union (NSU), the student wing of main opposition Nepali Congress, staged a demonstration against the government's decision to put on hold its decision to carry out pesticide testing for vegetables and fruits imported from India.  

Veggies’ lab test possible only after a year: Govt

Government has said that it will take at least one year to start lab test of the vegetables and fruits imported from India and third countries. Speaking in the discussion session on Appropriation Bill-2076 in National Assembly on Sunday, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakra Pani Khanal informed the meeting that it is possible to start the unified lab test of the vegetables and fruits only after one year.

NEB sets new dates for SEE supplementary test

NEB has rescheduled the supplementary examination of SEE. According to a notice issued by the NEB on Sunday, the supplementary examination of SEE will be held from August 18 to 28. The examination will be conducted from 8 am to 11 am. Earlier, the exam was scheduled for August 11 and 12.

Chand-led group padlocks twelve ward offices in Achham

Cadres of outlawed Chand-led group have padlocked twelve ward offices in Achham on Sunday. Pamphlets bearing the name of Seti Mahakali Bureau of Chand-led outfit were recovered from the ward offices, according to police.

 

Taliban car bomb kills at least 12 in attack on Afghan security compound

Taliban Islamist fighters killed at least eight Afghan security force members and four civilians, as well as wounding more than 50 civilians, by blowing up a car bomb in central Ghazni province on Sunday, government officials and the Taliban said. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.
