Death toll from Gulmi landslides climbs to eight

The death toll from landslides in Satyawati rural municipality has climbed to eight on Tuesday afternoon. Chief District Officer Yadunath Poudel told Republica Online that the death toll rose to eight as two more dead bodies recovered from debris during a rescue operation. At least two others have gone missing in the landslides triggered by incessant rains since Monday.  

Difficulties with traffic movement in capital during monsoon season

With the onset of monsoon season, vehicular movement along waterlogged roads in Kathmandu runs into difficulties. As a result, road travel turns into a terrifying ordeal since it involves a considerable amount of time at that time. Australian national arrested on charge of pedophilia

Police have arrested Australian national Derryman Thomas Alfred on the charge of sexually abusing two teenage boys in Pokhara on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) detained Alfred from his rented room located at the Dihiko Patan area in Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City at around 11 am.

Qatar defeats Nepal by four wickets in ICC Men’s World Cup Asia Finals in Singapore

Nepal suffered a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Qatar in the first match of ICC Men’s World Cup Asia Finals held in Singapore on Tuesday. During the match, chasing the 123-run target, Qatar reached 19.2 overs and lost six wickets. Inam-ul-Haq of Qatar top scored with 41 runs including six fours off 32 balls.

South Korea fires warning shots at Russian military aircraft in its airspace

The South Korean military fired two warning shots at a Russian military aircraft that entered South Korean airspace on Tuesday, the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul said, and Chinese military aircraft had also entered South Korean airspace. It was the first time a Russian military aircraft had violated South Korean airspace, a ministry official said.
