Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has clarified that the government declared a prohibited area to various security sensitive areas not to affect the people's activities. Speaking at the second meeting of the National Assembly here today, Minister Thapa reiterated the government's commitment towards good governance and consolidation of government. 

CPN Secretariat meeting finalizes agenda of Standing Committee meeting

Today's meeting of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Secretariat has finalized the agenda of Standing Committee meeting scheduled for Thursday. The meeting held under the chairmanship of party Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli determined the agenda and proposal of Standing Committee meeting, said party Spokesperson, Narayankaji Shrestha. 

Kalanki's underpass to open in third week of this month

The underpass at Kalanki of the capital city is to come into operation in the third week of this month. Considered the first such infrastructure facility of the country, the Kalanki underpass at the Kalanki Chowk is 800 meters long and has four lanes. 

143 Temporary parking lots designated in Kathmandu Valley

As many as 143 temporary parking lots have been put in place in various places across the Kathmandu Valley in view of effective traffic management in the Valley. Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) in cooperation with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has designated 60 parking spaces for taxis and 83 spaces for four and two-wheeler.

Europe and South America will do battle again for soccer supremacy in the World Cup quarter-finals but with many of the usual combatants having already exited, there is a fresh feel to a line-up that promises a new or long-absent finalist. While Africa, Asia and North America will not be represented, dashing any hope of a revolutionary breakthrough in the eventual destination of the trophy, at least one of this year’s finalists will not have reached the title decider for half a century, if at all.
