KATHMANDU, Oct 3: Journalist Chandani Adhikari passed away due to the dengue infection. Adhikari, working at Radio Bhotewodar, Lamjung, contracted dengue and was admitted to the Lamjung Model Hospital on November 1.
She was taken to Chitwan Medical College (New CMC) on Wednesday morning for further treatment and died during treatment at 6:30 AM, according to the Lamjung Branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).
In a statement issued by FNJ General Secretary Roshan Puri, the federation has mentioned that the federation is shocked by the death of a Journalist to dengue. He said that the Nepali journalism sector has lost a combative and energetic young journalist with the death of Adhikari. Puri has expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, wishing eternal peace to the departed soul.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 55 people have died of dengue since July, 2022. Similarly, a total of 46,768 dengue cases have been reported.
