KATHMANDU, April 3: With the aim to support the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) to carry out the first-ever National Economic Census scheduled for next month, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has provided necessary logistics worth Rs 95.1 million to the CBS.
JICA has provided tablets, laptops and desktop computers, computer software, satellite imagery, GIS software, UPS, external hard disk, projectors, printers, plotter, monitors, air conditioners, smartphones, server, screen, and solar power generation back-up system to the CBS under the “Project on Capacity Development for the Implementation of Economic Census 2018 in Nepal”.
Similarly, JICA also provided logistics like bags, caps, ball pens, stickers, note diaries, pencils and erasers, plastic bags and t-shirts for the enumerators hired by CBS to collect necessary data as part of the census. JICA has also supported CBS for questionnaires, listing forms, enumerator's manuals, enumerator's control forms, stickers, online survey manuals, map reading manuals, Nepal Standard Industrial Classification manuals and Nepal Standard Industrial Classification Brief manuals.
According to JICA, the census is the first-ever economic census in Nepal's history, and covers all the establishments in the territory of Nepal except some minor industrial sectors. The census will be conducted from April 14 to June 14 by the Central Bureau of Statistics and National Planning Commission.
