Jhapa XI, Army to viefor Mai Valley Gold Cup

ILAM, April 6: Rumpum Jhapa XI has advanced to the final of the ongoing Mai Valley Football Tournament defeating Armed Police Force (APF) 1-0 in the last four clash on Thursday. An extra-time goal from Bishal Rai helped Jhapa XI fix the summit clash against Tribhuvan Army Club scheduled for Saturday.
The second semifinal match of the tournament played at Ilam's Tundikhel, was pushed to extra time after both sides failed to score any goal in the regulation time. As the match was apparently heading to penalty shootout, Bishal scored the winning goal in the 115th minute, which was also the last minute of extra time. Bishal scored the goal utilizing fullback Rajin Dhimal's cross from the flank. Goal scorer Bishal was declared the man-of-the-match and was rewarded with Rs 7000.  
The champion of the tournament that is being jointly organized by Ilam District Football Association and Mai Valley Football Club, will bag a purse of Rs 400,000. Similarly the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs  250,000.
The tournament which started on March 30 features a total of 10 teams from Nepal and India.
